150/365 - Fortune cookies

Enough said. Okay, maybe not. Every day, sometimes every minute, I have to remind myself of the second one.

149/365 - Mt Diablo

149/365 - Mt Diablo, originally uploaded by Diane Meade-Tibbetts.

This is just a short drive from my house. I was actually on my way to the grocery store when I decided to go for a little drive. An attitude adjustment actually. This spot is not on the way to the grocery store. It worked...for a little while. I probably should have brought my DSLR and a tripod and sat out there until the sun went down or until I filled a CF card. THEN I would have been a happy girl for HOURS.

148/365 - Nectarines

I was hanging out at my sister and brother-in-law's house Saturday evening. He loves too cook and has a new line of grilling sauces that he created in this very spot on his counter. The lighting is really nice here. I was sipping on my cocktail when I spotted this bowl. "What a GREAT bowl!" were my exact words. So I looked around for some peppers to put in there and shoot. He should have peppers around since he makes sauces, right? I didn't see any so I used these lovely nectarines instead. It seems like it's been FOREVER since these were in season. They smell SO GOOD! I had originally posted this on flickr from my iPhone but decided it was just too....yellow? So this one has been edited in LR and I like it much better.

147/365 - Graduates

147/365 - Graduates, originally uploaded by Diane Meade-Tibbetts.

My middle child graduated from college. This child was my rebel in that we weren't sure we were going to get her through high school but we did. Thank you. Then she went on to get her AA today. With honors!! At first she wasn't sure she wanted to walk but I suggested she do so. For me. She is glad she did. Next year she gets her BS as she is still in school. I know she will go far in life and I am so very proud of her. That's my girl, first one on the left.

146/365 - need cookies

Found these cookie jars at Cost Plus. Super cute. Retail therapy as in mostly window shopping. All the summer stuff is on display. If I had the room, I would have bought all kinds of stuff. So, I guess having too small of a house is a good thing - I save some money and don't buy (as much) useless stuff I don't need.

145/365 - Macaroni & Cheese Monster

Took my daughter and grandson out to dinner. He likes to play in his food once he is full. His mom and I both have to refrain from cleaning him up right away as we have issues with stuff on our hands. He on the other hand was having fun and liked how the squishy, cheesy noodles felt. As long as he isn't throwing it at us or across the restaurant, we are cool.

144/365 - Fossil fan

Went to Macy's during my lunch hour to look for a new handbag. Didn't find one but I did find this cool retro fan. I wonder if they would sell it to me.

143/365 - Yes, please

I’ll take a new Dodge Challenger. I have been lusting after these since they came out. At first I thought I would like a silver one but now I want a white one just like this one. Not a practical car but oh how FUN! I kinda stalked this one coming into the grocery store parking lot. I’m a sucker for classic cars and this one just takes me back to the 80’s when I met my husband and he had a 73 Barracuda. His friend “ Buckwheat” had a Challenger and we used to drive around and take pictures of the cars. Both of them needed body work and paint but we didn’t care we were having fun. Again, I need to hit some car shows, yesterday.

142/365 - Flowers for Mom

Yes, I do like roses. These are actually a really pretty peach color but I likesd the faded edit. I made this photo at the SNF where Grandma T is for now. She has a nice window so she can see the Liquid Ambers, Pine trees, and birds. She is doing better every day. Thank goodness.

141/365 - Uncle, Nephew, Uncle

Silly boys. My grandson didn't want his picture taken, clearly my son did and my future son-in-law (I hope) is just an innocent victim. Or is he?

This is during the customary photography session before my son's girlfriends senior ball. Which up until Wednesday we didn't think was going to happen. We refer to my son as the Prince and his girlfriend as the Princess. Well, he has now earned the title of Prince and girl friend is now a true Warrior Princess. She is post op from two emergency surgeries (such a trooper) and he barely left her side for the two weeks she was in and out of the hospital. He is 19, she 17. Oh and they are the cutes couple ever!

140/365 - Alien four-pod

This is why I love my iPhone. I was waiting for the doctor to come in and noticed this retro-ish stool. I see them every time I go to the doctor but haven't noticed how cool they are until now. This photo reminds me of the alien tripods in the remake of War of The Worlds. Now what I really want to know is what do you call a tripod with four legs?

139/365 - Just add a Corona

Lunch for two days. I love getting the bowl with rice, black beans, chicken, fajita veges, salsa, lettuce, cheese....YUM! I could eat the whole bowl but then I would be hating life as I wouldn't be able to move. And food coma's are rough at work.

138/365 - Inspired

138/365 - Inspired, originally uploaded by Diane Meade-Tibbetts.

I'm cheating here. Again. And again, this IS my project. Yesterday just got away from me. If you have been reading my posts (anyone?) you know that things have been a bit hectic. And hospital visits are getting OLD. I know, stop with the excuses.

Anyway, this is from The Daily Mood. A little desk top sandwich board thingy that my BFF gave me for Mother’s day. I guess I should have chosen the Scattered one or Crazed, Cranky, or....Maniacal but I'm tying like hell to stay positive about life. So reading blog posts about Penny de los Santos and her CreativeLive workshop gets me up and out of funks and Inspired. Now I just need to get out of my own way.

137/365 - My plant likes me!

I used to have lots of plants. They used to be lush and green and growing. These days, not so much. This is a hardy plant as sometimes I forget to water it, then water the crap out of it and it always comes back. I probably shouldn't be too much of a surprise that it is flowering as I spend most of my time here. The plants I have at home don't get to see me as much as this one.

I tried editing this several ways, with several apps on my phone but I just can't make it so my eye goes right to the tangles mess of vertical blind strings.

136/365 - Pulled pork on polenta

This tastes way better than the photo looks. I'm thinking, noticing, iPhone photos don't capture appetizing food very well.

I don't want to keep listing my excuses any more as to why I don't make the time to pull out my DSLR and work on making better photographs. As Nike says, I need to "Just do it!"

I also need to focus on figuring out what I want and every day do something towards whatever that is. Wow. How vague is that?

135/365 - A different 3rd floor view

This is the third floor view from Grandma T's room. This is the best view she has had yet and this is the third hospital she has been to in four weeks. It's been a bit crazy lately. She is slowly doing better. thank goodness. This oak is amazing and of course I just couldn't capture the whole thing in all it's amazing-ness.

134/365 - Red onions

134/365 - Red onions, originally uploaded by Diane Meade-Tibbetts.
Decided to run over to the local Framers Market this morning. It was overcast so the light was perfect. It was also not crowded. I walked through a couple of times just to see what they had to offer. Bought a giant head of romaine lettuce and a bag of spinach. Oh and I got a few photos.

133/365 - Greek Burger, no bun

Okay, this is in no way a representation of what I learned today from Penny De Los Santos but the choice of food was most definitely inspired by her CreativeLive workshop. I know it's not gourmet but I just couldn't handle another salad. I was so hungry I almost forgot to shoot it. Which I HAD to do since I was listening to, watching and being amazed by the awesomeness that is Penny.

132/365 - Post Office

One of the things I like about going to get my hair done is that the shop is in downtown Martinez. I'm usually there at the end of the day so the sun is low which makes all the historic buildings call to me. This was a new find as it was the Dinner Magic Theater five weeks ago. I hear they moved and clearly the building is being worked on. I'm still trying to find information on this Post Office or maybe it's just the sign that was placed there at ine point.

131/365 - 4th Floor View

Same hospital, new floor. I think we have been on every floor here now. Again, I'm thankful I am on my way out taking this picture and not a patient. Mental and emotional exhaustion is ever present now. I had nothing left to edit this last night. Thankfully today is a little better as I am trying to take care of myself a bit.

130/365 - Lookie what I got today!!

I have been looking at these beautiful camera bags for a while now. Finally ordered one back in March and it arrived Tuesday. Unfortunately I have only had time to open the box to look at it for a moment. When I do get some time, I will photograph the big reveal. In the mean time, back to the hospital visits.

129/365 - Turkey girl

Walking into my work in the morning, I see what I thought was another goose. Then I thought is was a goose with a gosling. I then realized it was a turkey with it's wings out. Clearly this is a hen and she looked lost. This is taken with my phone through the dirty office window. Hope she finds her flock or her Tom.

128/365 - Sunday drive

This was on our way to the Hospital to visit Grandma T for Mother's Day. We took the back way just for something different. What a beautiful drive. What a beautiful day. I would have loved to just sit in this spot and watch the clouds move through the sky and the grass blow in the wind....

127/365 - Third floor view

This is a view of the back of Mt Diablo. I say the back because I live in the valley on the other side. And most photos are of that side. Yes, this is from a hospital. Not my favorite place to be but it is where we need to be these days.

126/365 - Hospital #3

This is the third hospital I've been to in three weeks. Unfortunately we aren't done visiting. I do appreciate the fact that I am a visitor and not a patient. I get to photograph the architecture on my my way in and out, with my phone of course. This kanthan newest and nicest one of the three.

125/365 - I can still use my iPhone with these on

Yes, we are all still taking turns hanging out at the hospital. Now they are making us gown and glove up. Grandma T is improving but will be transfered again, possibly two more times to different facilities for reahab. This is good as it means she is gettting better.

124/365 - Yes, another rose

The roses next door are EXPLODING in a mass of color. Lately I'm lucky if I have time to stop and smell them. Ah life. So busy. So busy, so many photo ops, so little time.

123/365 - Texture

123/365 - Texture, originally uploaded by Diane Meade-Tibbetts.

This is a photo I took a while back. I wasn't impressed with it because the sun was all wrong and the color was dull. So I desaturated then played with a few different texture/filters. All on my iPhone. This one is my favorite of the four I edited. The rest are on my flickr photostream. So much fun! I think I do this all day long, every day. The hard part is making up my mind.

122/365 - Riding in the car

Sitting in traffic. On the way to visit Grandma T who was transferred to a hospital closer to home. She is getting better, slowly. Can't wait until she gets back on her feet. The sunset was amazing and again I felt I was missing it so I had to shoot.

121/365 - Lazy Sunday morn

This weekend had a theme. My bed. Saturday I changed the sheets. Then the cat took it over. Sunday morning my grandson crawled in to watch cartoons. Then I spent the last half of the day, chillin, and reading and watching movies. In my bed. Yes, it was one of THOSE days. One where I needed to rest and now all is well.

April 2011 Mosaic

I know. And I feel guilty about it. I've been using my iPhone more than my 30D. Way more. Well the goal is to shoot and post a photo a day and that is what I am trying to do but I really want to get more creative with my DSLR. Life is crazy. Crazier than normal right now so I need to be happy that I have my iPhone and that I like it. No, LOVE it. Right?

120/365 - Afternoon nap

I know I've said this before; I want to come back as a house cat in my next live. Miss Peaches thinks my bed is her throne. She doesn't care that I just made the bed up with clean sheets. AND pulled the duvet to wash all the cat hair off. What a life.
