331/365 - BLT for brunch
Sunday, November 27, 2011
We were out of the usual eggs for breakfast so I had to get a little creative. Gotta start the day with protien. I didn't know what I was going to do with the bacon when I started cooking, I just knew it sounded good. As it was gently frying in a tall pan, the BLT idea came to me. Then of course once I put it all together I had to photograph it. I also posted a photo taken with my iPhone to Instagram and Flickr.

329/365 - Movie night with my kids
Friday, November 25, 2011
A very rare treat lately; Going to the movies and hanging out with all three of my grown children on a Friday night. I need to plan these type of outings at least once a month.
The movie was good, considering. If I hadn't read the books, I know I would have thought it was horrible. Yes, I read the series and yes it was fun. My daughters and I rotated the books between us.

328/365 - Thanksgiving dinner
Thursday, November 24, 2011
I am thankful for my husband, my children, my grandson, my mother, my sister, my "Louise", my in-laws, my friends, my cats and dog, my old crusty house, my job and my "first world problems' as my daughters so eloquently stated as we sat down for the wonderful dinner they prepared.
I am also so very thankful for the gift of Photography. Without it, i don't know how would ever get through the days of my life.

327/365 - Making apple pie with Uncle
Wednesday, November 23, 2011
Unlce and Nephew helping Auntie make her amazing apple pie to go with the Cherry and Pumpking pies for tomorrow. I think we are going to have more desert than we are dinner foods. Yum.

When I first saw this building all I could think about is how it does not fit in with all the historic buildings around it. Up until this evening I had onlynseen it during the daylight hours. As I drove by on my way to an appointment, I saw the lights first and knew that after I was done I would have to go back to see what I could capture. I've decided it is amazing at night. Clearly.

325/365 - Happy Birthday to my beautiful daughter!
Monday, November 21, 2011
Twenty-eight years old! No way is this possible. I am not old enough to have a child this age.
To my amazing first child: You are beautiful, smart, kind, funny and more and I love you dearly. Happy HAPPY Birthday!

324/365 - Learning curve :-D
Sunday, Novbember 20, 2011
Just not getting a few minutes to play with my new camera. While it is very similar to my 30D it has a LOT of new features that I need to learn how to use. First off, as I loaded the first photos into LR I see I have it set to JPG yet I thought it was set to RAW. Clearly they have moved the Review or Play button because I keep pressing the Garbage can button and wondering what is wrong with this thing and view why I can't my photos. Yep,lots to learn and I am excited!
I love that this is captured so beautifully with my iPhone and NO editing done at all.

322/365 - Her 10 Grandchildren
Friday, November 18, 2011
The gathering after Carol's services. She would have loved to see all these kids together in one place. They are all grown up now but they love and miss their grandmother.

321/365 - Her 4th child's 50th birthday
Thursday, November 17, 2011
We were blessed to spend a few hours this evening with my Brother-in-law, his family, our family and a couple close friends at the home of her sixth child and his husband. It was actually a crowd with four couples, seven young adults and our grandchild. Typical for even a partial family gathering.
A bittersweet event, celebrating his 50th birthday on the eve of his mother's funeral. We were all so happy to see each other and so emotionally raw from this vey long week of phone calls, emails (oh the emails!) and the preparations. Hopefully we can get some closure soon.

320/365 - Some of her scrapbooks
Wednesday, November 16, 2011
Carol loved to scrapbook. She also liked to cross stitch, embroider, and quilt. Over the years she made Christmas ornaments, scarves, and lots of blankets. My favorite creation of hers is the White Album. It is a history book bursting with copies of photos and mementos from most of hers and her family's life and it is amazing. She created one for herself and one for each of her six children.
A lot of the photos in her Tribute (that I am still working on) are from the White Album.

319/365 - Working on the Tribute
Tuesday, November 15, 2011
Doing this for Carol is...painful, fun, aggravating, sad and oh so special. Yes, we are all cycling through many ranges of emotions. This project has brought up reminiscing, laughter and lots of tears. And I'm not done with it just yet.

318/365 - Monday's mourning for Carol
Monday, November 14, 2011
The first of many bouquets of flowers we will see for Carol. I remember her being so good at arranging flowers herself. She would like this bouquet.
It's going to be a long and difficult week of mourning here.

On my way to pick up my Husband at the airport. Yes, I was driving. I remember the traffic as being pretty backed up but it doesn't look that way here.
Love the bridges.

313/365 - 7D or 60D?
Wednesday, November 9, 2011
Yep, trying to make a another decision. This is one I've been thinking about for some time. My 30D is old and tired and the repair shop I used to take my cameras to is no more. Guess I need to get me a new body.
This decision will be made tonight.

This is becoming a fun hobby, looking for unique wine labels. This one is interesting and I'd like to find out more about the name but a Google search isn't giving me anything other than the name Daou Vineyards.

311/365 - Tis the season (for toy shopping)
Monday, November 7, 2011
My Grandson likes to crawl in my bed on weekdays and watch Sesame Street while I get ready for work. Today he came in with the Target toy catalog, got up in the middle of my bed and started shopping. I think he has discovered something new that he wants in there every time he looks at it since Saturday when he first lost his mind over a giant Transformer. "OH MY GOODNESS! WHAT IS THAT?! OH, IT'S OPTIMUS PRIME!"
So stinking cute!!

310/365 - Decisions, decisions...
Sunday, November 6, 2011
I was playing around with some of the mural photos I took in Sacramento the day before, with my iPhone. Of course I couldn't decide which one I liked more so Diptic it is. Or in this case "quad-tic."
I just have the hardest time choosing. Photos, activites, what to make for dinner...I'm not sure what this is but when it comes to making up my mind, I waste a lot of time. This is one of the reasons I lag in getting photos posted...having to choose.

309/365 - In Old Sacramento
Saturday, November 5, 2011
We took the train to Sacramento just for fun. And fun it was! So nice to just ride and watch the scenery go by. The "kids" all loved it too.
We visited the Railroad Museum, walked along the wooden sidewalks, checked out the shops, a gallery or two and had an early dinner at Joe's Crab Shack. Then it really started raining. We were prepared and the bonus was I didn't have to drive home in it.

Hubs getting ready to fly to Paris later this day and had to have a last minute lesson. How we have made it this long without knowing how to do this, I don't know. Thank you to our daughter, who learned somewhere.

305/365 - November self portrait
Tuesday, November 1, 2011
I decided I want to do a self portrait at least once a month. After taking several of these this morning and then editing them (cropping, adding a filter) I realize that I need to get a little more creative and maybe try different venues besides my bathroom or my car.
Self portraits are difficult. I know I'm not alone in thinking this but still, it's a lesson in letting go and being okay with exposure.

Another title for this photo could be "What the heck was I thinking?!?”
I could say I participated in this event under duress but no, I did it (somewhat) willingly. Crazy? Yes. It was very difficult for me and I really had no business being out there but I did it and it was fun and I have the bruises to prove it. AND I want to do it again next year. So, I now know what I need to train for; Everything!
