Saw these trees on fire with color two days ago. All I had with me was my iPhone and I just couldn't capture this. So I went back today with my 30D. Even at 17mm, I just couldn't get it all in the way I saw it. Still, I love all this color.
Must go find MORE trees.

Oh THIS was a fun one! Of course I have to photograph a pumpkin, tis the season.
I'm signed up in two Big Picture Classes with the wonderful Tracey Clark. Picture Inspiration: week 35 was to capture gourds. Done. The Art of Composition's midweek challenge was to capture Bokeh and i have been wanting to do this, puposefully. Done. Yes, I'm a week late for both but better late than never.
Now, how can I capture Bokeh in ALL my photographs?

I can’t decide if this reminds me of Halloween or Christmas. I’m thinking it works in black and white for Halloween and then back in color for Christmas. Hmm, maybe a Christmas card.
It only took me six shots of this tree to get this which is rare for me. I love how the white at the bottom right falls away; I almost can’t tell where the photo ends. Nature, simple, negative space… did I say how much I really like this? It helps that I was on my evening walk, taking pictures, listening to Keith Urban on my headphones…peace.

This is my mid-life crisis car. If and when that happens. Well not this exact model. I want an R/T, fully loaded, white, with the stripes on the hood. Or maybe silver. As usual, making up my mind is a huge problem. I do know that I do not want a car payment because I do not want to keep myself stuck in this rat race. So, how do I get off this hamster wheel I am currently on?

It's that time of year again. Pumpkin picking or selecting. We went back and forth about where to go this year. Do we want to go where there are rides, mazes, etc? Or do we just want to go low key? We ended up going low key and it was perfect because it was HOT; As evidenced by the expression on my grandson's face. He had to take a seat for a minute here on this big ole pumpkin and we had just arrived at the patch. His goal was to get the biggest pumpkin he could find. Well, we let him get the biggest one he could carry. It was a short, fun and HOT trip with the whole family. Next year, if it’s warm, we are going to Half Moon Bay where it should be cooler.

I’m not sure why, but I really like this photo. The light? The lines? My comforter looking all cozy? The floor?
As I was standing by my bed with my iPhone in my hand, somehow having opened up the camera app (I do stuff like this all the time), I see the light from the bathroom illuminating the wood floor in my bedroom on the screen. Look at the beautiful grain. I love how it looks so much better on my phone than it actually does in real life. It has had 55 years of being walked on, carpeted over, carpet removed, furniture moved over, updating of the bathroom (twice), painting and who knows what else. I guess it really doesn’t look that bad considering.

My brother would have been 55 today. He's been gone for over 15 years now and I wonder, often, what he would be like now. I wonder how our relationship would have evolved. I miss him a lot and wish we would have had more sibling time together. I’m not sure why but this birthday has been especially difficult for me. I find it just about impossible to maintain my composure when I think about him which is why I can’t write more about him here. I will eventually.
One of the things he was passionate about was Aviation so I felt the need to just go hang out at our local airport on this day. It felt good. I watched the sun set on the airfield and took some pictures. He was there with me...

Fleet Week San Francisco! I love watching these planes and I would SO love to ride in one. How does one go about doing that?
I am NOT happy with my photos this year. After lugging my camera bag with a DSLR, two lenses, my point and shoot and all the other items I need all the way there, I failed to check my ISO. It was set at 1600. GAH! And to top it off my sensor was is so dirty it's obscene. There really is no saving these photos this year. But I need to print one with the dust spots to remind me. Or, maybe it's time to update the camera so I don't have to worry about the sensor. Of course I clearly need some sort of alarm on camera that says "Do you REALLY want your ISO at 1600 in this bright sunny sky???" So depressing. I got some good photos last year. Probably because I prepared better and took my time. Hmmm.
Canon 30D (with filthy sensor) and a struggling Canon 75-300 mm lens. Serious clean up done in LR but no use sharpening. Yep, seriously time to upgrade some gear. Still trying to remember if I bought myself anything for my last birthday.

OMG! Still so busy at work. It's really cramping my photography. Captured this on my way to my hair appointment after work. I actually want to get out here where the trains meet the refineries at sunset to take some pictures but stopping is NOT allowed so I have to be satisfied with drive by shootings. Day two in San Jose. Feeling okay considering it was a late night of FUN. Nothing but Keith Urban playing my head. Permanently. Thank you very much.
We stayed at a nice hotel. I can’t say the name because we snuck up onto the roof after breakfast. Sweet view! That’s really all I wanted to do up there was get a 360 degree view and of course take some pictures. I just wish I would have at least remembered my point and shoot. We weren’t up there long. Just looked around, climbed some ladders…in slip on shoes, on top of an 18 floor building. I was on top of the world!
There are some really interesting newer buildings down town and in the mix are beautiful historic buildings and for some reason, lots of churches. It’s all so fascinating to me. I think I could spend a few days there just photographing the architecture.

Spent the night in Downtown San Jose. We went there to see Keith Urban in concert. This was the fourth time I have seen him and I have enjoyed every one of his shows more than any other performer I have seen. And I’ve seen many. Anyone remember Days on the Green in Oakland, Ca? He puts on an AMAZING show and….I touched his sweaty shoulder as he walked by!! Yep, we had a BLAST!
We walked from our hotel looking for Sushi for dinner before the show. We got a little lost following someone’s GPS on their phone but i was okay with it because I was loving the light, the buildings, the clouds, the reflections...I'm surprised I didn't fall on my face walking the whole way looking up. This was across the street from the restaurant we eventually found. So cool!!
