Sea Glass! I love the colors of sea glass. I still have the page of a magazine (somewhere) I saved from years ago that is of a bathroom decorated in the colors of sea glass. Sea glass colored 1 inch square tiles! So, I'm taking a little break during my lunch at the local Cost Plus, enjoying all the colors and new things I have no room for (at this time in my life) and I see this bottle of wine. I almost walked by but did a double take and went back to make a photo because really...wine, another super cute wine label, SEA GLASS. I just love this label! Yes, it is the little things that make my day.

270/365 - '70
I've been seeing a lot of photos of classic cars lately which makes me want to photograph this beauty that sits in our garage.
Once we pull it out of the garage (it does run) and wash it, I will be all over it with my cameras. Then I will post more detail on the history as well as better photos.

269/365 - YIKES!
This just creeps the heck out of me. As I brought it up on my monitor to edit, I shivered and let out an audible...expression of a shiver(?) My son walked in the room just then and laughed at me. Why was I editing a photo of something I clearly don’t like? Why did I take a photograph of it? Yeah, I don’t know. It makes my stomach hurt just looking at it. It is fascinating though.
My coworkers encouraged me to photograph this. And they all want to see it. I think. Well some do, some don't. Anyway, here you go. Cringe.

268/365 - Lafayette Reservoir Tower in the rain
I went for a nice walk around the reservoir with my daughter, my Sister and her daughter. We knew it was probably going to rain but it was okay, it felt wonderful. My original plan was to bring my 30D. Thankfully, I decided to bring my SD1100 because it did get wet. I forgot how beautiful this place is as I hadn't been here in years. There were all kinds of people and dogs walking, running and riding and a couple flocks of turkeys too. It was a beautiful morning with the girls.
I recently read an article by someone who doesn't like the tower. I like the tower, it has a gothic feel to it. And clearly I am in a architectural mood lately.

I tried to edit this one in LR to get more of the building to show but it is an iPhone photo and it was just looking really bad the more I messed with it. So, I'll go with a silhouette.

Sitting at the stop light at about 6 pm. I love this building because of the crisp lines and shadows when the sun is low. And I have a thing for architecture.

Is this level? I went with the veritial side because no matter what I did, it just didn't look right. Still doesn't. That is why I added the Purple Haze filter in Camera+. In addition to being difficult it was kinda boring. I like this much better.

Bookstores are dangerous. I'm not even sure why I went to Barnes & Noble but I could have walked out with five or six books. That's what I had in my hand at one point. So two is a good number.
I need all the ideas and inspiration I can get these days and this Photo Idea Index fits in my hand bag. As for Understanding Flash Photography; Bryan Peterson has been a favorite of mine for some time. I have all his books, had to get this one. I also took a few of his classes via BetterPhoto.com several years ago, before I had a DSLR. I need to work on my flash photography desperately and since the daylight hours are getting shorter while I am at work, this will give me more photo ops in the evenings.

262/365 - Toe shoes
Monday is one of my workout days. I have the best trainer in the world; MY Sister. These are her feet in her new toe shoes. This is her second pair and she loves them. I tried on a pair but coudln't get used to the toe separation part. Nor could I get used to the way the black ones look like gorilla feet. These ones though, are actually kinda cute. I may have to try them. The idea behind the shoe is that we need to use our toes more as it is better for our backs. When I walk on my toes (in the gym) I can feel the difference in my hips which is where my problem areas are. Less pain is always good. Of course the calves take a beating but I could use that kind of pain.

Typical cat behaviour; this basket is mine.
This cat is very difficult to photograph because she is so dark. I keep trying though.
I'm thinking I need to step up this project. I'm sure anyone who may be looking at my photos is thinking the same thing or they aren't looking at them because they are so boring. I'm bored with them. It's like i'm just trying to catch up and it is not fun. A day here and there of uninspired photography is one thing but I've been feeling it for a few weeks now.
Back on the horse, so to speak. Clearly I need to go back to using something besides my iPhone and Monday's are always a good day to start.

260/365 - Speed Racer beer?
I'm not really a beer person but I like looking at labels and this one caught my eye. Wait, should it be Racer X beer? No, it shoud be Mach 5 beer! My favorite cartoon when I was a kid was Speed Racer. I had a crush on Speed. I know, a cartoon character. Hey, I was a kid and he was cool.

Chewy and Peaches. They like each other, a lot. They take naps together and they both like to be outside at night. They are always waiting at the back door first thing in the morning for me to let them in so they can get a snack and hang out with me before I leave for the day.

Our dog Chewy. His days are numbered due to a bone infection. He turns twelve next month. Not sure he is going to make it to the end of this month. I must get some more photos of him before he goes. I won't let him suffer. Of course sometimes I think he is suffering now and then he will bound up and jump around wanting to see what we are doing, eats like the big dog that he is, trots out to the back fence to bark at the people walking by...just like a dog. This day was one of those days where I thought it may be it but he was just resting so we hung out in the living room. Me working on a project and him chilling on his tempurpedic bed.
While we keep re-wrapping his feet, we will also feed him all the treats he wants, let him lick plates clean, toss food to him from the table, scratch his belly, a lot, and move his bed to whatever room he wants to hang out in.

253/365 - Good evening
Saturday, September 10, 2011
My sister and her beautiful daughter/my amazing niece, took me out to dinner. As we were walking in to the restaurant we saw this. We both lifted up our iPhones to make a photograph and Sister commented that she wished the power lines weren't in the way. I suggested we use them to frame the moon since it isn't easy to capture with a camera phone.

251/365 - Two faced
Thursday, September 8, 2011
Yes, this is late for me to be out on a weeknight. I'm usually ready to crawl into bed about this time.
Decided at the last minute to head over to the Farmers Market with my #2 daughter and my sister. Sister’s husband had a booth set up for selling his amazing sauces. There was live music and lots of people. So it surprised me to run into some friends of Hubs and mine that we haven’t seen in a few months. And there I was fresh from working out, in my workout clothes...I had a feeling I would see someone I knew. Oh well, always nice to see friends.
This clock tower, at the park where the market is held, actually has four faces.

250/365 - Thoughts...
Wednesday, September 7, 2011
...ideas, rants, epiphanies, hopes, dreams, plans...
One of my favorite things to do. One thing that helps me get out of my head. Purging all the thoughts that are constantly running through my head. When I make the time first thing each day, it is amazing the difference in my attitude. This day I took a few minutes in the evening to write down some things that I wanted to think about and remember.

Tuesday, September 6, 2011
Hubs found this baby a while back, growing under some leaves in the front yard. So he relocated it to some soil in, hopefully, a better area. Still in the front yard. It is getting bigger yet we know it will be a long time before it looks like an oak tree.

247/365 - It's a crane thing
I have a thing for cranes. Can't get enough of them. So, of course, I love taking a detour through the Mare Island Shipyard any time we are on our way to or from the North Bay-ish, or beyond. I happened to be coming through as the sun was setting and Oh mY GOODness, I just wanted to freeze time. Between the abandoned buildings, the re-purposed buildings, the ships, the rust, the HISTORY and the cranes, I was...in heaven. Okay, that may not be it but I can't think of another description. I was giddy, couldn't stop shooting, didn't care that some areas were a little bit scary, that I was hungry and tired, I, was living in the moment. Rare for this scatter brain. I could have spent hours out there but the sun light was going away. Must go back, at sun rise, with a friend or two and some bikes.
Canon 30D. Sharpened and straightened in LR. Even with all those lines, I still get my horizons crooked.
246/365 - Gardening at 8 am.
Saturday, September 3, 2011
For those of you who know me, this is a big deal. Even my BFF said to me when I asked her if I could help, "you will have to get dirty."
This morning I was okay with getting my hands and knees dirty because I had not showered yet, I had my coffee and it was still cool out as the fog was starting to clear from the hills. If felt good to get down in the dirt and plant. I really do need to to that more often. If only I could fit it into these already super full days of my life. I'm thinking I'd like to plant a small winter garden. Maybe some bulbs in winter. I'll add these to my list.

245/365 - Dahlia at Fern Grove Cottages
I add the date to these posts yet I still screw it up. I incorrectly dated the previous post as Friday and then had to correct it. Something about a nice LONG weekend and, of course, being behind on my posting. I'm trying to catch up here.
Friday evening BFF and I decided to go into "Town" for dinner. After our dinner of taco salads at a little Mexican restaurant, we were heading back to the car when we spotted and just couldn't resist the gardens at the Fern Grove Cottages. BFF's hobby and soon to be full-time job, is gardening. Me, I just love to see, smell and photograph flowers and this place is AMAZING. Flowers everywhere and the Dahlias were in full bloom. The sun had already dipped behind the hills but I had both my iPhone and my Canon P/S out and could not get enough of the splendor. One of the reasons I am behind here, besides my day job, is that, again, I cannot make up my mind which photo to use for this project. I made a LOT of photographs this last weekend and have many more to sort through. I think I may need a website, other than Flickr or another blog. Oh yeah, and MORE TIME.

244/365 - Sweetwater Springs Road
A week behind posting here but still shooting or rather, making photographs every day.
I headed up to a favorite place of mine in the hills of Sonoma County to spend some much needed time with my BFF. I left after work knowing I would hit some commute traffic but I had my music and the drive is just beautiful. As I'm driving up the last paved road I pass this treasure. Now I have been up and down this road many times and never saw this truck. I guess it was the light this time that caught my eye. Now why I didn't grab my DSLR out of the trunk, I don't know but I wish I had.

243/365 - Where the boys are going
Wednesday, August 31, 2011
I like these stickers. They are prettier than California's green or red stickers.
My boys left the next day for a two week hunt. Crazy. Far too much work to go camping in the woods but they have a blast so good for them.
